Frequently Asked Questions – American Removers

What items can I place in the dumpster?

You can place any type of non-hazardous waste. Allowed items include construction materials, furniture, household items, branches, yard waste, and general household trash.

Hazardous or flammable items are not allowed. Examples: tires, batteries, paint, oil, gasoline, chemicals, electronics, appliances using gas or freon, materials containing asbestos, medical waste, or any toxic substances.

Landfills reject prohibited materials. If they are detected in the dumpster, the load may be returned, and the customer must remove those items before rescheduling the pickup. Additional handling or removal fees may also apply.

The rental includes dumpster delivery, pickup upon completion, and the permitted tonnage based on size. For American Removers, the 14-yard dumpster includes a standard weight agreed upon in the contract and a defined period of use.

Excluded are charges for overweight, additional days outside the contracted period, unauthorized materials, or damage to the dumpster. Any of these situations may incur extra charges.

The standard rental period with American Removers is 7 days from the time of delivery.

You can extend the rental period for an additional daily fee. Just contact American Removers to arrange this in advance.

It is recommended to do so at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability and scheduling of the service.

American Removers automatically collects the dumpster at the end of the rental period, once the customer schedules their pickup, or unless the customer requests an extension or change of date.

You can contact American Removers to request early pickup or request a second dumpster. Each new dumpster starts a new rental period.

If the dumpster exceeds the allowed load or is blocked, the customer must correct the situation and reschedule the pickup. Additional travel or overtime fees may apply.

Payment is due upon delivery. American Removers accepts credit cards, cash, or check. A valid card is required to confirm the reservation.

Dumpsters can be heavy, especially when filled. American Removers recommends placing wood underneath to protect the surface. If you need to place the container on the street, check with your municipality, as some locations require special permits.

Cover the container with a tarp if rain is forecast, especially if it contains materials that absorb water, such as wood, carpets, or mattresses.

Trucks have legal weight limits. If this is exceeded, some of the contents will need to be removed until a safe weight is reached before collection.

Trash should not be loaded above the rim. If this happens, the driver may refuse to collect the container, and additional charges will apply until it is level.

To the top rim, but never above the sidewalls.

The American Removers dumpster measures approximately:

8 ft wide × 12 ft long × 4 ft high.

The truck requires at least 9 ft wide and 14 ft high clearance for delivery and pickup.

A clearance of at least 9 ft wide is required for truck access and 14 ft high to tilt the dumpster during loading or unloading.

It is not mandatory, but it is important to leave clear instructions on where to place the dumpster. If access is blocked, additional rescheduling fees may apply.
